The VHTC is excited to announce the second round of our Winter Break Super Skills Series this hockey season and 10th overall! The VHTC will offer three elite level skill/position specific camps designed to improve the players game immediately! The Holiday Break Camps were a huge success and we are excited to provide another round of development for our players! All three camps include three 60 minute on-ice sessions (Cairns Arena) and one 90 minute off-ice session (VHTC) for a total of 4.5 hours of intense training!
The Advanced Edgework and Powerskating camp is not your typical “powerskating” session. The VHTC utilizes many Russian and Swedish edge control drills that challenge players comfort zone. This camp is for players that are proficient skaters that want to be challenged and improve their edge control, agility, acceleration and stride efficiency. Also, there will be a special focus on developing the advanced “linear” crossovers technique with and without a puck.
The Premiere Scoring Academy will introduce translatable shooting tactics that professional players use to score. Such tactics include: shooting in stride, shooting off of bad passes, shooting off either foot, shot release with angle change, attacking from below the goal-line, creating trap doors, 10 and 2 utilization and more!
The Goaltending Academy focuses on proper stance and movement techniques. The goalies spend 30 minutes per session focuses on their skating and movement abilities. The second 30 minutes, the goalies take live shots in the premier scoring academy stations where a goalie coach can closely observe and correct movement techniques.
The Elite Defenseman camp will focus on elite level defensemen skills. Some of the skills that will be focused on are: Transition skating with and without a puck, backwards stride efficiency and edge control, Neutral Zone skills (underhandling, deceptive passing, hinge plays, etc) and Offensive Zone skills (lateral movement along the blue line, 10-2 utilization, jackhammers, getting shots thru traffic, etc).
